Small craft advisory in effect for East End Tortola

The Virgin Islands Department of Disaster Management (DDM) says a small craft advisory remains in effect for the eastern side of the Virgin Islands (VI) today, Saturday, July 10, 2021.
The Department is also forecasting that for today, a tropical wave will be moving through the area.

“Weak unstable conditions ahead of the wave could produce periodic and brief showers throughout the day but by tonight, more unstable conditions behind the wave are expected to further increase the chance for showers.

The DDM said that in addition to this, moderate to fresh breeze continues to blow across the area making sea conditions challenging for small crafts operators to navigate through these waters.

As such the DDM said the weather for Saturday is partly cloudy with a 40 percent or a moderate chance of showers and for tonight, mostly cloudy with occasional showers mainly after midnight.

Winds will be East-northeast today and east tonight where speeds will range from 22 to 35 km/h or 14 to 22 mph with gusts to as high as 56 km/h or 35 mph.

Seas will be 1.5 to 2.1 metres or 5 to 7 feet.
