Small craft warning in effect as BVI expects inclement weather

The British Virgin Islands remains under a small craft advisory because of inclement weather forecast to affect the territory over the next 24 hours.
This is according to Thursday morning weather update from the Department of Disaster Management (DDM).

“A moist and unstable lower atmosphere coupled with an increase in winds across the area will continue to heighten the chances of showers for the next 24 hours. Possible rainfall totals for the forecast period is five to 15 mm or 0.2 to 0.6 inches,” the DDM stated.

The DDM further said there is a 70 percent of showers but a low chance of thunderstorms.

In the meantime, the territory can expect winds of up to 37 kilometres per hour with gusts of up to 56 kilometres per hour.
