Honourable Malone provided the update when asked about the situation with the 7th District's Rosalind Penn Health Centre, which has reportedly been closed for months.
Speaking to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) on January 11, 2022, Hon Malone hinted that the recent spike in COVID-19 infections continues to affect healthcare workers and as such, may have impacted the staff of the health centre.
Hon Malone said the facility will; however, re-open on Monday, January 17, 2022.
Days ago on January 7, 2022, 109 healthcare workers had been infected and that figure has risen to 120, with the staff of the local contract tracing department also impacted.
Meanwhile, inquires to Seventh District Representative and Deputy Premier and Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture Hon Natalio D. Wheatley went unanswered.
The Rosalind Penn Health Centre was officially re-opened on Thursday, August 1, 2019, under the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Administration, following the completion of work on the building that was damaged by the hurricanes of 2017.
