Statement by Premier Honourable Andrew A. Fahie on death of UK Parlaimentarian Sir David Amess
October 20, 2021

It is with great sadness that I have been made aware of the death of Sir David Amess, Member of Parliament for Southend West in the United Kingdom. His murder was a heinous act which also struck at the heart of democracy. I condemn the senseless act of violence that took his life and pay tribute to Sir David for his keen interest in the Overseas Territories and his distinguished career in the House of Commons for over 38 years. I hope the assailant will be brought to justice.

On behalf of the Government and people of the Virgin Islands, I extend deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Sir David.

May God give them comfort at this time.
