Suspected illegal activities being investigated @ BVIPA
Information just reaching Virgin Islands News Online, September 13, 2021, is that a live investigation into suspected illegal activities is being conducted at the BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA) in Port Purcell.
It is unclear what exactly the suspected illegal activities are, although there are reports they are drug-related. VINO; however, could not confirm this up to time of publication.
Commissioner of Customs Mr Wade N. Smith confirmed reports of the investigation into illegal activities at the ports but did not give details since he said the investigation is ongoing.
Mr Smith also confirmed HM Customs is leading the investigations.
The BVIPA has reportedly been closed to customers as a result.
