Take a Peek at Tierra Whack’s Brand-New Wardrobe, Designed Entirely by Her Fans

Take a Peek at Tierra Whack’s Brand-New Wardrobe, Designed Entirely by Her Fans

“I like that Tierra thinks outside of the box,” says stylist Shirley Kurata.

Nobody does style quite like Tierra Whack. The Grammy-nominated rapper was recently kind enough to let Vogue spend 24 hours in her company as she completed a shoot for the What Whack Wears contest she cooked up with Adobe Creative Cloud. And now, the creations dreamed up by Whack’s fans have been brought to lifeขand she’s more than ready to wear them back out into the world.

“Pre-pandemic, I wanted to wear these clothes on tour,” Whack says of the outfits her fans designed. Unfortunately, that didn’t come to pass, but Whack is happy with the final outcome: “I’m just glad we were able to find a way to showcase all these wonderful outfits that people designed, because my fans are so creative, and I really didn’t want to let all that talent go to waste.” In her off hours over the past year, Whack has favored “hoodies and sweats,” but she’s got a keen eye for style even in a pandemic, naming Marni and the Margiela/Reebok collaboration among her current fashion obsessions.

Whack and her stylist, Shirley Kurata, teamed up with Adobe to bring this contest to life, but their working relationship goes back years. “I like that Tierra thinks outside of the box. She has her own style, and she likes to take risks,” says Kurata, adding, “She doesn’t want to wear anything that’s too basic, or, you know, normal.” says Kurata.
