“We have got to find a way where we [are] going to conduct ourselves more safely and securely without all of the hazards that already exists…. if the legislations are not in place and if the proper signage is not in place, there needs to be some serious enforcement,” he said.

The Man of the Cloth was at the time speaking on the Tuesday, November 11, 2020, edition of his “Honestly Speaking” show where he also urged persons to stop picking up people at random on the busy highway.

“You cannot just abruptly stop on a highway to pick people up or drop them off, first of all, you're putting yourself in danger, you’re putting fellow vehicular traffickers in danger,” he said.

More crosswalks needed

Skelton-Cline continued, “Then you all are crossing the street across by One Mart, in particular, all up the road by the roundabout although there is a crosswalk and that's where the governmental piece come in that we need to strategically continue to have these crosswalks.”

He called on Government to implement strict policies against the violations as well as poor road use by pedestrians and for jaywalkers to be ticketed.

“We got to find a way to bring some law and order specifically as it relates to vehicular traffic... an enforcement mechanism that will eliminate or at best minimise what I see happen daily.”

This he said would address the issue and avoid a myriad of accidents on the roadways in the territory.
