Taste of Tortola gets flavourful reviews as patrons flock event

This year’s staging of the Taste of Tortola was said to be a major hit as the clear skies afforded hundreds of locals and visitors to revel in the great food and music made available at the Queen Elizabeth ІІ Park on Saturday.
“The event has been an amazing experience! I didn’t get to taste everything but what I got to taste was amazing,” said 2019 Gen Y Factor winner, Dwight Hutchinson, Jr, who was a patron at the culinary event.

Hutchinson’s remarks were one of many echoed throughout the event which forms part of the BVI Food Fete.

He said it was his second time to the event and things “seem to be getting better”.

Similar sentiments were echoed by another patron, Tesha Todman. She said: “I did enjoy it. I really enjoyed the beef with macaroni and cheese. This is my first time coming and it was really good.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of Tourism Rhodni Skelton said the event was “emblematic” of what the tourist board imagined the event would have been.

He said the family-oriented event catered to the needs of the children as well as the adults with the open park setting and food demonstrations by several chefs.

In the meantime, entertainment for the event included Razor Blades, DJ Bertram, and the 3Gs.

The BVI Food Fete continues with the Cooper Island Rum Festival on November 16, the Jost Pork & More Festival on Jost Van Dyke on November 17, A Taste of Virgin Gorda on November 23 and the Anegada Lobster Festival on November 30 and December 1.
