TB Lettsome Airport adjusts operational hours due to Covid ‘afflicted’ staff

The Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island has amended its hours of operation due to staff testing positive for COVID-19.

Mr Keith L. Flax, the Acting Managing Director of the BVI Airports Authority, informed the travelling public via a press release on January 4, 2022, that effective Wednesday, January 5, 2022, the daily operational hours of the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport, (EIS), will be 7:30 am to 7:30 pm until further notice.

EIS will also operate fully on a PPR basis through to Tuesday, January 11, 2022, in the first instance.

Further, it was announced that EIS will close for two (2) half hour periods (9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.) and 6:00 pm – 6:30 pm) through to Tuesday, January 11, 2022, in the first instance.

Due to this closure, no services will be provided to the airports in Anegada and Virgin Gorda during this period.

Wave of COVID-19 related illnesses


According to the press release, the amending of the operational hours is in “response to a wave of COVID-19 related illnesses that afflicted the staff.”

Mr Flax assured the travelling public that the BVI Airports Authority stands committed with the Government of the Virgin Islands as it exerts all efforts to manage and bring under control the number of staff afflicted by the virus.

He also apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked the travelling public for its continued cooperation in “ensuring that Safety, which is Our No. 1 Priority is at all times maintained.”
