The Fall 2021 Jewelry Trend Report

The Fall 2021 Jewelry Trend Report

Jewelry for waist-up dressing and post-pandemic partying.

The pandemic and Zoom have ushered in a new era of waist-up dressing that puts jewelry, especially earrings and necklaces, in the spotlight. Unsurprisingly, these were the categories designers focused on for fall. Fringe was a major trend of the season, flying from ears and collarbones as well as seams. Jewelry designers offered many variations on the theme; there were falls of beads and pearls, as well as mesh. No matter the variation, all of the pieces have a flirtatious swing that will animate any outfit.

There is charm to be found in the simplest of jeweled headbands; and healing in the from crystal pendant necklaces at Chloé. Crystal in diamante form delivered major bling, both at the earlobe and the waist. The latter in anticipation of life lived and viewed vertically, as in head-to-to rather than in a horizontal box. Speaking of our new online lives, the self-absorption of Zoom seems to have inspired figurative jewelry (i.e. earrings with eye motifs, lip brooches, and the like).

Flowers worked in feathers and metal showed signs of budding optimism; while logoed pieces offer fashion cred. Rounding out the season were rings on almost every finger, a runway styling trick that’s easy to recreate at home using what you have at hand.
