The 'Global Britain' agenda is just another form of colonialism

The 'Global Britain' agenda is just another form of colonialism

Umoja radio talk show host Cromwell Smith aka Edju En Ka has placed the spotlight on the ‘Global Britain’ agenda, referring to the relationship with the Overseas Territories (OTs) as a facade rather than a relationship that is beneficial to OTs.

Global Britain is seeking to integrate Security, Defense, Development and Foreign Policy across its territories, but according to Smith, on the March 29, 2021, edition of his radio show, Global Britain is just another form of colonialism.

UK moving to make BVI a part of Britain

“The act of decolonisation now is not to separate from Britain but for the BVI to become a province of Britain.”

He said UK can therefore say to the global community and the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonisation that they no longer have colonies, but providences and territories similar to the US and the USVI.

“It’s still a colonial process that is going on here, they have to assent to every legislation we pass,” Smith said.

Bishop of the New Life Baptist Church in Duff’s Bottom, Tortola Mr John I. Cline said the relationship will the UK will continue as if it is colonialism because the UK has colonialism in their DNA.

Pastor of the New Life Baptist Church Mr John I. Cline had previously accused the UK of attempting direct rule and imposing policies on the Virgin Islands (VI) and other British OTs under the guise of a ‘global Britain’.

Colonialism in UK DNA – John I. Cline

Bishop of the New Life Baptist Church, Mr John I. Cline, speaking as a guest on the show, said the Global Britain relationship with the UK will continue as if it is colonialism because the UK has colonialism in their DNA.

“The Brits, they don’t change… when they come up with human or national security, the decision that they are making is still in the interest of Britain," he said.

According to the Bishop, “That’s their DNA, colonisers to rule over who they deem the lesser, wherever they have gone, whether it's South Africa, Australia, India, [and] in other parts of Africa.”
