Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Virgin Islands (VI) Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) Mr Ronnie W. Skelton has reminded the Government of the Virgin Islands that the RDA is not a maintenance agency and as such, maintenance system should be put in place for projects delivered by the Agency.
Mr Skelton was at the time speaking at the opening ceremony of the Elmore Stoutt High School Redevelopment Project on January 3, 2023, when he added that the Project cost millions to execute and has now been handed over to the Government.
“The RDA is not a maintenance agency, we get projects, finish them and hand them off.”
He continued, “The government's responsibility is to maintain these projects. If you don't maintain them, they will fall apart, so I beg you to put a maintenance team in place.”
Mr Skelton added that should the need be there, the RDA can also assist the government to ensure systems of maintenance is in place.
Purpose of RDA
The RDA on its website described itself as an agency that executes recovery projects on behalf of the Government of
the Virgin Islands and for every project, RDA follows proper project planning practices, a rigorous procurement process, and best practice management during the delivery phase.
The RDA added that by managing the budget, schedule, and results, RDA ensures the greatest benefit is delivered at the lowest possible cost and in the shortest possible time frame.
