This Week, the Best Dressed Stars Made the Yuletide Bright

This Week, the Best Dressed Stars Made the Yuletide Bright

The lead up to the holidays may be a time focused on family and introspection, but the season always brings out an array of festive fashion too.

Whether they were at home celebrating with their loved ones (Blackpink's Lisa enjoying a sleigh's worth of new Celine goodies), encouraging fans to donate to city foodbanks (Mandy Moore sharing a dotted version of Cara Cara's popular Maidstone dress), or serenading a crowd (Dua Lipa decked out in Helmut Lang), celebrities aimed to spread cheer last week.

A lighthearted, joyful sensibility united the best looks. At the drive-in premiere of her Amazon Prime Video romantic drama, Sylvie’s Love, Tessa Thompson concluded her press tour with a gilded look from Alexandre Vauthier’s spring 2020 couture collection. In a golden hoop skirt with tulle accents, white bow blouse, and black bolero, Thompson owned the daring style that has become her signature.

Lamé textures and frills felt especially appropriate on Christmas Day, and at Disney’s annual parade, Julianne Hough delivered both in Joseph Altuzarra’s ruffled one-shoulder ‘Kamala’ dress. A liquid metal party frock with plenty of oomph, the piece was ideal for the pre-taped special’s upbeat entertainments. A glittering Parisian runway diversion in the middle of a wholesome American tradition, Hough’s dress was the perfect holiday treat.

Equally appealing was the crimson tartan attire Hailee Steinfeld chose for her latest Instagram update. In a standout look from Marc Jacobs’s nostalgia-inducing fall 2020 collection, the actress-and her teensy pooch, Martini-delivered a welcome dose of festive cheer. Steinfeld’s belted wool top and matching straight-leg pants were a head to toe holiday tribute, enhanced by a backdrop of pine wreaths and poinsettia.

In a Hailey and Justin Bieber may have kept their holiday threads subtle, but the couple’s coordinated Christmas look was very much in the spirit of the season. With Justin in oversized sweats from Helmut Lang's collaboration with Saintwoods and Hailey doubling down on her Bottega Veneta obsession in a pastel shearling coat designed by Daniel Lee, the Biebers provided a moment of cozy cool just in time for the holidays.
