Three arrested with one charged in human trafficking probe- RVIPF

Information coming out of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) is that a number of persons have been arrested following the execution of a search warrant on Thursday, February 2, 2023, in relation to an ongoing major investigation into human trafficking in the Territory.

Police said as a result of the search, three persons were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking, and one female, Genette Colastin 37, from Pockwood Pond was subsequently charged on February 4, 2023, with various human trafficking offenses.

“The other two persons were released pending further investigation. Four persons who are believed to be victims of human trafficking from another island were rescued. They are now in the hands of the Immigration Department,” police said.

According to the release, the Police Commissioner Mr Mark Collins said that the investigation is a complex one that is far-reaching.

According to the release, the Police Commissioner Mr Mark Collins said that the investigation is a complex one that is far-reaching, “human trafficking also known as modern-day slavery is a problem all over the world. Police said that given the investigation remains ongoing, the force will not be making any further comments on the matter.
