Today, December 20, 2022 is the start of the Budget Debate

Today, Tuesday, December 20, 2022, is the 2023 Budget Debate Day. It was on November 29, 2022, that Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) presented a $399.33M Budget Estimate.
Days later, the House of Assembly (HoA) went into the Standing Finance Committee (SFC) of all Members, which was not opened to the public. With not many changes in the amount (closed envelope), it is unclear what Members will be saying in the debate.

With the general election due by the first quarter of 2023; however, political shots are expected to be fired, in what will be a two-day debate.

It is unclear if the new Speaker Honourable Corine N. George-Massicote has imposed a speaking time limit on legislators.

Today will be the continuation of the Ninth Sitting of the Fourth Session of the Fourth HoA and is expected to start at 10:00 am at the Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff's Bottom.

Live coverage will be carried from 10:00 am on the House of Assembly VI Youtube; House of Assembly of the Virgin Islands Facebook; 780 AM ZBVI Radio; CBN-Radio (90.9 FM); FLOW TV Channel 101; and CCT TV Channel 291.
