Total active cases in VI now @ 958

In what is now the second-largest COVID-19 spike in the Virgin Islands (VI), there are now 958 active cases recorded in the territory, according to the latest update given today, January 6, 2022.

According to the Territory's Epidemiological Summary, the latest figures are the result of testing done on January 5, 2022, and reported on January 6, 2022.

The Summary also noted that of the 958 active cases, 357 are new cases.

755 of the active cases are on Tortola, 175 on Virgin Gorda, 20 on Anegada and 8 on Jost van Dyke.

There are 483 local cases and 377 being contacts of cases.

12 persons are currently hospitalised at Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital with COVID-19 related illness.

The last COVID-19 spike in the VI took place mid-2021, with total cases reaching some 1600.

According to the Territory's Epidemiological Summary, the latest figures are the result of testing done on January 5, 2022, and reported on January 6, 2022.
