TS Fiona: ‘Have emergency plans ready’- Acting Governor Archer Jr

With Tropical Storm Fiona expected to pass near the Virgin Islands this weekend, Acting Governor David D. Archer Jr has urged persons in the Virgin Islands (VI) to have emergency plans in place in case further action is needed.

Forecasters believe the system will bring heavy rains and windy conditions to the VI as early as late Friday, September 16, 2022.

According to the Acting Governor, already, the Public Service is taking steps to prepare based on established emergency plans and discussions within the Emergency Operations Centre.

“I urge all households and individuals to follow suit and have emergency plans ready in case any further action is needed. As always at this time of year, it’s a good idea to check on family and business emergency stocks, essential documents, and back-up communications,” Mr Archer Jr advised in a statement on September 15, 2022.
