UK donates new batch of Paediatric COVID vaccine doses

Governor of the Virgin Islands, H.E. John J. Ranking CMG has revealed that the UK has donated a further 200 doses of the Pfizer Paediatric COVID-19 vaccine doses which arrived on, May 12, 2022

The Governor made the statement alongside new Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8) during a brief address shared on social media.

“Most children remain at low risk for developing serious illness from COVID-19, but a very small number may develop severe illness and the paediatric dose can help keep them safe from that risk,” the Governor said.

Active cases rise in VI


With some 155 active COVID-19 cases as of May 13, 2022, the Governor added most of the cases in the VI are mild, however, the COVID-19 outbreak still remains a threat as new variants can emerge.

He encouraged persons especially those in the vulnerable groups to not procrastinate and get vaccinated or boosted to stay safe.

He said doing what it takes to stay safe, will also keep loved ones safe.
