‘UK knew exactly what was going to happen to Andrew’- Bishop John I. Cline

Bishop of the New Life Baptist Church in Duff’s Bottom, Tortola, Mr John I. Cline says the arrest of ex-Premier Andrew A. Fahie (R1) in the USA may have been part of a grand plan by the United Kingdom (UK).

Bishop Cline made the statements during the May 26, 2022, edition of the ‘My BVI’ show streamed on Facebook, after his co-host Angelle A. Cameron suggested that the arrest of the ex-Premier and release of the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) Report may have been a coincidence, since the two came at almost the same time.

Uk don't deal with coincidence - Bishop Cline

According to Bishop Cline , “The UK doesn’t deal with coincidence, they deal with plans… they are strategic.”

“They knew everything what was going on, they knew what was going to happen to Andrew, no matter what they say. Let’s call a spade a spade,” he added.

The Governor in a press statement on April 28, 2022, informed the VI and world that Premier Fahie was arrested in the USA.

“It is my duty as Governor to inform you that this morning the Honourable Premier Fahie was detained in Miami on charges related to conspiracy to import a controlled substance and money laundering,” Governor Rankin shockingly disclosed.

The Governor added in his statement, “The remit of the Commission of Inquiry focused on governance and corruption and was not a criminal investigation into the illegal drug trade."

Governor John J. Rankin in a press statement on April 28, 2022, informed the VI and world that Premier Fahie was arrested in the USA and then a day later release the CoI report.

Did arrest lead to release of CoI report?

"To avoid unnecessary speculation, I intend to move ahead urgently on publication of the inquiry report so the people of the BVI can see its contents and its recommendations in the areas it addressed,” he said.

While VI Governor John J, Rankin CMG said that the arrest of the Premier was not linked to the Commission of Inquiry report, UK Foreign Secretary Liz M. Truss on the same day of the arrest said the CoI had demonstrated ‘the importance of the Commission of Inquiry into governance on the Territory.”

The news of the arrest of the Premier received international media coverage ahead of the release of the CoI Report a day later, where one of its sweeping recommendations called for UK Direct rule to be imposed in the territory.
