UK scientific advisers challenged over evidence for England lockdown - BBC News

The chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance and chief medical officer for England Professor Chris Whitty have been challenged by MPs about the evidence behind the latest lockdown in England.
They were asked about some modelling scenarios which suggested there could be as many as 4,000 deaths a day without a lockdown..

One MP accused them of “frightening a lot of people” but Sir Patrick said it was a reasonable worst-case scenario.

Meanwhile everyone who lives or works in Liverpool will be offered a rapid Coronavirus test in a pilot scheme which if successful could be rolled out across the UK.

Huw Edwards presents BBC News at Ten reporting by science editor David Shukman and health correspondent Dominic Hughes in Liverpool.
