UK Summons Russian Ambassador Over Diplomat Expulsions

The UK Foreign Office has summoned Russian Ambassador Andrei Kelin after six British diplomats were expelled from Moscow over spying allegations. The UK denies these claims, calling them malicious, and asserts that Russia's actions violate international treaties. This diplomatic tension coincides with UK Prime Minister's visit to Washington to discuss Ukraine's military capabilities.
The UK Foreign Office has summoned Russian Ambassador Andrei Kelin following the expulsion of six British diplomats from Moscow.

The move comes after Russia accused the diplomats of spying, a charge the UK denies, calling it a 'malicious and deliberate public campaign of aggression.' On 13 September, Russia revoked their accreditation, citing Britain's alleged involvement in inflicting 'a strategic defeat' on Russia.

The Foreign Office asserts that Russia's actions violate international diplomatic treaties and are part of a larger campaign to undermine UK security and support for Ukraine.

Moscow's announcement of the expulsions coincided with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer's visit to Washington to discuss Ukraine's military capabilities with US President Joe Biden.

This incident follows a series of similar diplomatic expulsions between the two nations since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, including the recent expulsion of British diplomat Capt Adrian Coghill.
