Unapproved ‘erection of election campaign billboards is strictly prohibited’- T&CPD

Even before the elections season switched into high gear, billboards were springing up across the territory and many have since been utilised especially by the main political parties.
The Town and Country Planning Department; however, is advising members of the public that the erection of election campaign billboards is strictly prohibited unless approval has been granted by the Department.

“Permission for the erection of any billboard structures must be sought from the Planning Authority in advance,” a notice from Government Information Services (GIS) today, March 31, 2023, stated.

For inquiries and additional information, persons have been asked to contact the Town and Country Planning Department at 1(284) 468-2158.

Meanwhile, some of the political parties and independent candidates have also been utilising the various electronic billboards erected in certain areas of Tortola.
