Police Investigate Shooting in BVI, Fourth Murder in Six Months

On June 2, 2023, BVI News received additional information regarding the shooting incident that occurred in Harrigan Estate.
The victim, a man, was sitting on his porch when a vehicle pulled up in front of his house.

Two masked men reportedly exited the vehicle and one started firing shots at the victim.

The victim was shot in the shoulder and managed to flee to nearby bushes.

The masked men entered the property and continued firing shots at the victim.

After the gunmen left, the police and ambulance were called to the scene.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The extent of his injuries is not yet known.

Several spent shells were found at the victim’s residence, and windows and walls were damaged due to the shots fired.

The police have not released a motive for the shooting nor have they stated whether they have made any progress in their efforts to apprehend the shooter/s.

In the past six months, four murders have been committed in the community, and guns have been a common factor in these crimes.

The police have been actively working to recover illegal weapons from individuals in the community.

Recently, the police conducted an early-morning raid in the Spooner’s Estate area and discovered a single high-powered weapon along with four other firearms.

They also found a significant amount of ammunition and arrested five individuals, including two females and three males.
