US resident identified as victim in fatal boating accident off JVD
The police have released the identity of the male victim of last Thursday’s fatal boating accident off Great Habour in Jost Van Dyke.
He has been identified as 33-year-old Robert Owen Stafford of North Carolina in the United States.
According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), the incident is still being investigated.
The RVIPF said in a brief media update last week that Stafford was the only person aboard the vessel at the time.
“The one male occupant was found unresponsive in the waters with injuries to the head while the dinghy he was in was met circling in the area,” the RVIPF reported at the time.
“Following attempts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead,” the police added.
