Event organizers said the waters are recognized around the world as being the prime fishing area for this part of the World and the funds raised will go towards summer youth programs on Virgin Gorda.
“We have over a dozen boats signed up already... It is a part of Easter Festivities on Virgin Gorda,” Thomas K. Warner, the organizing Operations Manager said in anticipation of more entries.
Organizers expect boats from all over the Virgin Islands to enter and try their skills against the best from Virgin Gorda. Lines will go in the water in the early morning, and the weigh-in is in the evening at Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour.
“Food, drinks, and music are of course a big part of this event and with the help of the Tourist Board, the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, and the Government of the Virgin Islands we can expect that this will be a wonderful event. Many local marinas, businesses and individuals also reach into their pockets to support this annual event,” a release on the event noted.
For more information on the entry procedure, persons are being asked to contact Michael Collins at 541-1040 or visit the VGFC Facebook page for more details.
