VI blazes Santo Domingo 96-86 in C/bean C/ships 2023

Virgin Islands' basketball fans were in for an electrifying game last evening, March 31, 2023, when the VI walked away the group winner of a heated game between Santo Domingo in the 2023 Caribbean Championships held at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, in Road Town, Tortola.

Scoring 96 points against Santo Domingo's 86, the VI went on to beat Anguilla today and will now face the USVI in a rematch.

Tournament spokesperson, Steve E. Parillon speaking to Viring Islands News Online (VINO) said the game last evening went really well and was beyond electrifying.

"The home crowd was really behind the BVI team, it was electrifying... basketball is well and alive again, it's just great," he added.

Meanwhile, Mr Parillon said the VI is eager to face the USVI again in tonight's match-up for another opportunity to take the win.

Tonight's match-up will also include a rematch between Santa Domingo and Statia.

He called on fans to come out and support the games and home team as action starts 7:30 pm tonight, April 1, 2023, at a cost of $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Virgin Islands basketball fans have been asked to wear white in full support of the [British] Virgin Islands Basketball Team, which is in a must-win game against powerhouse Dominican Republic at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex tonight, Friday, March 31, 2023.

Jahmai Jones led the USVI team with 31 points and was named Player of the Game.
