VI Cabinet approves 14 public holidays for 2023

The Cabinet of the Virgin Islands (VI) has released a list of public holidays for 2023.

His Excellency, Governor John J. Rankin, CMG chaired the Meeting held on September 14, 2022, held at the Financial Services Commission’s Resource Centre, Jones Building.

According to a release from Cabinet, all Members were present with the exception of the Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) who was overseas on official travel.

The list of holidays for 2023 includes:

* Monday, January 2, 2023 - New Year’s Day
* Monday, March 6, 2023 - (In lieu of Tuesday, 7th March) - The Anniversary of the Birth of Hamilton Lavity Stoutt
* Friday, April 7, 2023 - Good Friday
* Monday, April 10, 2023 - Easter Monday
* Monday, May 29, 2023 - Whit Monday
* Friday, June 9, 2023 - Sovereign’s Birthday (to be confirmed)
* Monday, July 3, 2023 - Virgin Islands Day
* Monday, August 7, 2023- Emancipation Monday
* Tuesday, August 8, 2023- Emancipation Tuesday
* Wednesday, August 9, 2023 - Emancipation Wednesday
* Monday, October 16, 2023 - Heroes and Foreparents Day
* Monday, November 27, 2023 - Commemoration of the Great March of 1949 and the Restoration of the Legislative Council
* Monday, December 25, 2023 - Christmas Day
* Tuesday, December 26, 2023 - Boxing Day
