VI footballers beat USVI 2-1 in CFU U14 Tournament in DR

The Virgin Islands (VI) have won their opening game of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under 14 Challenge Series in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The VI defeated US Virgin Islands (USVI) 2-1 in Tier II Group 3 on Saturday, August 13, 2022.

Blake Kirk gave the VI the lead in the 18th minute when he fired home from close range.

The USVI were; however, on level terms in the 27th minute.

Othneil Gillings then scored the winner for the VI in the 55th minute when Kirk fired to goal from the right side and the USVI goalkeeper went low to block the shot but the ball spilled on to the path of Gillings who made no mistake in firing it to the back of the nets.

The points standings in Tier II Group 3 of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Challenge Series.


Win for Anguilla


Anguilla also took all three points in Group 3 yesterday, beating Turks and Caicos Islands.

The VI boys play Turks & Caicos Islands at 2:00 pm today, August 14, 2022.
