Virgin Islands Minister for Health & Social Development, Hon Carvin Malone (AL) has confirmed that the Virgin Islands has recorded a new COVID-19 related death.
While the Health Minister speaking to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) today, December 12, 2021, did not provide detail, such as the gender or age of the deceased, the latest death comes as the territory has seen a sharp increase in infections.
The territory currently has 40 active confirmed
COVID-19 cases as of December 10, 2021, with some 5 persons currently hospitalized according to information coming out of the Ministry of Health.
Virgin Islands Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A.
Fahie (R1) have assured that his government has not dropped the ball on
COVID-19 or any of its new variants.
He said authorities will continue to advocate for vaccination and encourage persons to follow the local
COVID-19 public health protocols which are proven to be effective against the virus.
