There have been 25 new COVID-19 cases in the territory since the last update on August 26 2021.
Acting CMO Dr Ronald E. Georges made this disclosure while giving an update on the
COVID-19 situation at an emergency meeting for the transportation for hire industry at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College in Paraquita Bay on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.
“Currently, to date, we have 50 active cases, so last week we had 25 and the numbers are picking back up.”
He said
the Virgin Islands has recorded a total of 2,610 positive cases, and “We continue to see positive cases coming in and so that is also from the persons who have entered the country and are screened.”
A few weeks ago, the territory recorded its peak in
COVID-19 cases when the numbers stood at just over 1,600.
The number of
COVID-19 related deaths remains at 37.
