VI resident seeking assistance for brother with stage 4 prostate cancer

“My fight with stage 4 prostate cancer is deteriorating daily. I'm in constant pain mainly in my chest, pelvis, both feet and headaches.” Those are the words of 62-year-old Higman M. Peters, whose sister Veronica Prince has set up a GoFundMe page to raise monies to help cover her brother’s medical expenses.

According to Veronica Prince, a St Vincent national who has been residing in the Virgin Islands for over two decades, her brother has been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer and in need of urgent financial assistance.

“His condition could be life-threatening without financial help to cover his medical expenses since the cancer is in an advanced stage and could affect his liver, lungs and other parts of his body."

The GoFundMe page for Higman M. Peters has been active since June 24, 2020, and having only raised less than half of the funds, the family has made a fresh appeal for help.

Public appeal

The GoFundMe page for Higman has been active since June 24, 2020, and having only raised less than half of the funds, the family has made a fresh appeal for help.

“With your kind donations regardless of how small, you can help save my brother's life. Thank you in advanced and may God richly bless you,” Ms Prince wrote.

Our newsroom was told that Higman was the main breadwinner of the family and friends are helping to keep the family going; however, they would appreciate anything persons can do to help him.

“I am appealing for financial donation by asking you to support my #GoFundMe campaign. I need your support. My life is not the same. I know my chances of survival may be slim but your donation would help me to continue my therapy treatment giving me a chance to live a little longer,” Higman stated.

Meanwhile, the GoFundMe account has so far managed to raise $2, 124 of its $5,000 goal.
