VI’s D’Mitri Varlack takes gold in U17 Long Jump @ England Athletics C/Ship 2022
Local long jumper, D’Mitri Varlack has taken gold in the U17 Long Jump event of the England England Athletics U15, U17, U20 Championships, held in Sheffield, England from February 12-13.
According to the BVI Athletics Association, on February 13, 2022, Varlack secured first-place finish in the U17 section of the Long Jump event with an opening jump of 6.57m, his second attempt at 6.61m, and his 6th and final jump at 6.61m (21’-8”).

Varlack also made headlines in local sporting news on January 18, 2022, when he secured the BVIs U17 Carifta Games qualifying Long Jump mark by leaping a distance of 6.68 meters at the Southern Indoor Championships.
The 2022 Carifta Games was held in Jamaica between the 16th to 18th April, 2022, after a two-year hiatus.
The U17 Long Jump qualifying standard is set at 6.50m
Varlack is the Grandson of BVI Basketball Federation (BVIBF) President, Derrick R. Varlack.
