Visitations @ HMP resumes for three days weekly

The Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) facility in Balsam Ghut Tortola has re-opened to visitors for three days weekly after visitations were stopped as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is according to a notice from the prison which indicated that visitation will be allowed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Persons desirous of visiting inmates are being asked to make appointments only by contacting 468-6303.

The Prison noted that Drop-offs will be permitted on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 a. m. to 11:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. by authorized persons only.

Negative COVID-19 test needed


Drop-offs on Saturdays must be authorized by the Superintendent of Prisons and any drop-offs outside of permitted dates and times will be denied.

To gain entry to the facility, a negative COVID-19 TEST not older than three (3) days is to be presented all other rules and guidelines remain the same.

The prison noted that the safety of inmates and staff and maintaining the security and orderly running of the prison continues to be a priority.
