The non-league football club Real Bedford FC received a $4.5m investment from Winklevoss Capital, owned by Gemini founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss.
Podcaster Peter McCormack bought the club in 2021 with the goal of reaching the Premier League.
The Winklevoss brothers will now co-own the club alongside McCormack.
The Winklevoss brothers, known for their involvement in the cryptocurrency world and past controversies, have invested in the football club.
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of
Facebook, was accused of stealing the idea for the social media platform from twins Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss during their time at Harvard.
After a lengthy lawsuit, they received a settlement worth $20m in cash and
Facebook shares.
The twins are now known as Bitcoin billionaires, owning a large amount of Bitcoins and operating a crypto exchange called Gemini, which functions similarly to a stock exchange for crypto coins.
Gemini, a cryptocurrency exchange, began sponsoring Manchester City Football Club in January 2022.
However, the company has faced challenges this year, including being ordered to return over $1bn to customers due to a defunct lending program and paying a large fine for unsafe and unsound practices.
Despite these setbacks, Bitcoin, the cryptocurrency Gemini specializes in, has reached an all-time high in value recently.
