Yacht destroyed by fire in Soper's Hole

Yacht destroyed by fire in Soper's Hole

Persons could only look on helplessly as a yacht was destroyed by fire in Soper's Hole this afternoon, Monday, October 31, 2022.

According to reports, the fire started around 5:00pm when the vessel was docked; however, after realising the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Services would not make it fast enough, it was towed out into the bay.

Firefighters eventually arrived; however, they could have only watched on with others as the vessel became engulfed by the inferno.

At least two vessels were seen desperately trying to spray water on the boat using the engine propellers; however, that effort turned out to be futile.

It is unclear to our newsroom at this time what was the cause of the fire.
