Zero recorded active COVID-19 cases in VI– Hon Malone

The [British] Virgin Islands (VI) is now at zero recorded active cases of COVID-19, Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon Carvin Malone (AL) announced this afternoon, February 18, 2021.

Hon Malone was speaking at this afternoon's Honestly Speaking’ show with Claude O. Skelton-Cline on ZBVI 780 AM.

“This is hot off the press. The Chief Medical Officer has advised me that of the 153 positives that we've had, all 153 have now recovered. So currently there is zero active cases in the Virgin Islands,” he said.

According to the Health Minister, to date, the territory has tested over 22,000 persons for the virus and of those who were previously infected all have recovered with just one unfortunate death.

Gov't remains proactive


Hon Malone further thanked God for protecting the territory so far and said the government remains proactive with positive attitudes towards fighting the pandemic.

He also thanked the people of the VI for their cooperation and adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines and policies to keep the territory safe.
