25-yr-old charged for snatching gold chain, pulling knife

BVI News understands that a 25-year-old male was recently arrested and charged with robbery after snatching a gold chain from an unsuspecting resident.
Reports are that the victim was in the Purcell Estate area when the suspect snatched his chain and ran away.

Onlookers reportedly contacted the police and tried to chase the suspect who had not yet left the area.

It’s understood that suspect eventually stopped running but refused to hand himself over to the cops. Our sources say he pulled a knife in the presence of the officers, in an attempt to stop his arrest.

But it’s understood that one of the cops convinced him to put the weapon away and yield to their instructions.

The suspect later admitted to stealing the piece of jewellery and handed it over to the cops. It’s understood that he was jailed for stealing the item. Another charge has allegedly been laid against him for the weapon he pulled when he tried to resist arrest.

It is unclear whether he has been granted bail and when he will appear in court to answer to the charges against him.
