During an update on the arrival of the Pfizer vaccines this afternoon, December 16, 2021, Hon Malone revealed that the active case count in the territory currently stands at 90 as of December 16, 2021.
Hon Malone said while the cluster of cases are under control, he said across the region, the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) is reporting an increase in cases, while cases on the international scene have also been increasing.
“Here at home, I feel the need to remind us about the spike we had back in July that claimed the lives… of our family, friends and our loved ones. We do not want another situation like that to befall us,” Hon Malone said.
As the holiday season progresses, the Health Minister warned against mass gatherings that comes with the festive season. He also reminded persons to continue following the local public health guidelines and social distance, as well as the need to vaccinate.
“I will continue to advocate for vaccination as it is one of the top defenses against this dreaded disease that had claimed and continue to claim the lives of millions worldwide,” he said.
“We need persons to top-up their immunity with the boosters now available, and accessible to you. Remember we are not out of the woods,” he said.
Hon Malone also expressed gratitude to the UK for their continued support via vaccine supplies to the territory.
