$97K contract inked to dismantle makeshift ESHS structure in Pasea
A contract valued nearly $100,000 has been issued to execute demolition works at the old CTL building where students of the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) had previously been housed.
Following hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017 and the extensive damage left in their wake to the main ESHS campus buildings in Lower Estate, temporary classrooms were constructed that would facilitate a shift system for students and teachers by utilising a space that was once a business structure. All students have now moved to back to the Lower Estate campus where shifts are expected to continue until construction work has been completed.
According to a release issued by the government yesterday, the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) in conjunction with the government awarded a contract to Construction and Engineering Systems (BVI) Limited on October 3 in the amount of $97,359.00.
The project will return the Old Clarence Thomas building to its original configuration and remove existing equipment and infrastructure.
The Scope of Works for the project includes the removal of lights, power outlets, doors, frames, acoustic ceilings, emergency lights, signage, partitions and the data network which all formed part of the teaching environment.
Meanwhile, works have been delayed on the construction of the ESHS buildings at Lower Estate, but Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley has expressed hope that the project will be completed soon.
