Terrance B Lettsome International Airport Closes Again Due to Cargo Plane Incident
Terrance B Lettsome International Airport in the British Virgin Islands suffered its second closure in two days after a cargo plane blew a tire upon landing and became encumbered on the runway.
The BVI Airports Authority issued a press release and advised travellers to contact their airlines for information regarding travel arrangements.
The airport resumed normal operations three hours later.
The authority also faced a staffing issue with its Air Traffic Control Tower at the end of the previous week that forced the airport to close until the following day.
Last Thursday, the territory welcomed inaugural flights from American Airlines offering non-stop flights between the BVI and Miami in the USA.
