Anguilla & Antigua & Barbuda sign agreement on maritime border
The Governments of Antigua and Barbuda and Anguilla have signed an agreement that will bring their maritime border dispute to an end.
The agreement delimits the overlap of the 200 nautical mile Exclusive Maritime Zone of Anguilla and Antigua and Barbuda and furthermore provides for the delimitation of the potential overlap between the parties in the maritime space beyond 200 nautical miles.
Both countries reached this point after two rounds of negotiations over the last three years.
The Anguillan Governor stressed this agreement follows international maritime rules, laws and protocols, specifically the United National Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
