Axe Attack on Paris Suburban Train Injures Four Teens
Incident involved multiple weapons; the main suspect is in custody
Four teenagers were injured, two seriously, in an axe attack during a fight on a suburban train in Ozoir-la-Ferriere, southeast of Paris, on Monday morning.
The victims, aged between 16 and 17, were on their way to secondary school when the altercation occurred.
One teen had a hand severed, and another suffered a skull fracture.
Two additional teens were lightly injured.
The violence, which involved an axe, knife, samurai sword, and baseball bats, broke out around 8:00 am local time.
All injured were transported to the hospital and are not in life-threatening condition.
A 16-year-old suspect was later arrested at his home, where police confiscated the axe.
The incident did not disrupt traffic on the RER E line, according to SNCF, as it occurred while the train was stationary at Ozoir-la-Ferriere station.
