BVI Governor Announces Progress in Law Enforcement Review

BVI Governor Announces Progress in Law Enforcement Review

The Governor of the British Virgin Islands (BVI), John Rankin, has announced that a law enforcement review emanating from the Commission of Inquiry (COI) report has shown progress recently.
The review was expected to be conducted in relation to Recommendation B38 of the COI report, which also called for the Prison Service and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to be included in the review.

The Governor stated that the review will also consider Recommendation B41, which is intended to ensure that the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) and other enforcement agencies have the facilities and powers to prevent, monitor and detect crime.

The review will be conducted by HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) and will consider the structure, resources, conduct and standards, and terms and conditions of law enforcement agencies in the BVI.
