China Aims to Land Astronauts on Moon by 2028

China plans to send astronauts to the Moon by the end of the decade.
The mission will involve the development of a "short-term stay system for crews" and focus on mastering manned space flight technology.

The Chinese plan to conduct scientific exploration, moonwalks, and research on the lunar surface.

China already has a near-Earth human space station and a human round-trip transportation system.

The next-generation rocket is expected to make its maiden flight in 2027.

NASA administrator Bill Nelson has described the US and China as entering a space race, but the Chinese Foreign Ministry has denied any claim to parts of the Moon.
