China's Developments in Stealth Aircraft and Naval Capabilities
China introduced its second 5th-generation fighter jet, the J-35, raising notable parallels to the US F-35.
With plans to integrate the J-35 into both the Air Force and Navy, China mirrors the US approach, where the F-35 comes in three variants for different military branches.
China's largest aircraft carrier, Fujian, equipped with the advanced Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System, aligns with this ambition.
Meanwhile, the US Department of Defense suggests China's potential development of a carrier-capable fifth-gen fighter, the FC-31/J-31, which might succeed the current J-15 on the People's Liberation Army carriers.
At the Zhuhai air show, the debut of the twin-seat J-20 stealth aircraft highlighted China's advancements, alongside Russia's Su-57, and a new dedicated drone zone emphasized the strategic importance of drones observed in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
China also showcased the 'Killer Whale,' an unmanned vessel with versatile weapon capacities.
Concurrently, India is progressing with its Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), aiming for a 2035 induction of this 5.5-gen stealth fighter, as highlighted by DRDO in its recent showcase.
