China's humanoid robots poised to transform everyday living and spiritual functions.

The robotic monks from Shanghai Qingbao will create a historic moment in India, heralding a new phase in the expanding humanoid robot sector.
In a groundbreaking shift, humanoid robots are poised to move beyond their conventional functions in factories and exhibitions, stepping into new roles within spiritual and cultural contexts.

Shanghai Qingbao Engine Robot, a frontrunner in humanoid robotics, has revealed its intention to dispatch over 20 of its robotic monks to India, where they will provide sermons at a Buddhist temple.

These robots, adorned in traditional orange robes and sporting tranquil expressions, will sit cross-legged in the symbolic lotus position, marking the world’s first instance of robots assuming a spiritual function in a religious environment.

The inclusion of robots in religious rituals is regarded as a significant achievement for the robotics sector.

Shanghai Qingbao, recognized for creating robots for cultural tourism and events, is among numerous companies vying to develop humanoid robots.

Other prominent contenders in this domain include Tesla, Nvidia, and Chinese electric vehicle firms such as Xiaomi and Xpeng.

Humanoid robots are now diversifying into a broader array of functions, ranging from supporting operations in factories like Tesla’s Optimus to serving as entertainers or guides in museums.

The increasing integration of robots into everyday life continues to drive the advancement of artificial intelligence and automation across multiple sectors.
