CrossCountry has announced a temporary reduced timetable affecting routes from Bristol, Gloucester, Nottingham, and Manchester to address performance and reliability issues due to ongoing industrial action and a backlog of critical training for train drivers.
From August 10 to November 9, services will be cut to allow for training, aiming to minimize same-day cancellations and improve future service resilience.
Bethan Jelfs, CrossCountry’s regional director for the West and Wales, emphasized that the decision is proactive to ensure long-term reliability.
Previous trials during Easter showed a 94% reduction in cancellations.
Passengers with pre-booked tickets can choose alternative services or request refunds.
National changes include alterations to routes between Scotland and the South West, Newcastle to Reading, Manchester to Bournemouth, Manchester to Paignton, Nottingham to Cardiff, and Birmingham to Stansted.
