Elections 2023: All 4 At-Large Legislators will lose seats– Skelton-Cline predicts

Talk show host and social commentator, Claude O. Skelton-Cline has predicted that when the Virgin Islands people head to the polls at the next 2023 elections, all of the current At-Large Legislators will lose their seats.

Those getting booted out of the House of Assembly (HoA), according to Skelton-Cline, will be Hon Shereen D. Flax-Charles, Hon Neville A. Smith, Hon Sharie B. deCastro, and Hon Carvin Malone.

“I don’t see Hon Shereen Flax-Charles running for the Virgin Islands Party, I could be wrong but I don’t see and because I believe that all four At-Large [Representatives] of the Virgin Islands Party are going to lose their seat. I think a consideration for Hon Flax-Charles is to run in the 9th," he said.

Skelton-Cline was at the time speaking on the Tuesday, January 10, 2023, edition of his Honestly Speaking show, the first broadcast of the series for the 2023 year.

“These are all my people and friends, all these people at one point or another I have helped to get elected… my interest is not Caesar, my interest is Rome… I am concerned about the Virgin Islands,” he added.

Possible new at-large candidates 

Meanwhile, Skelton-Cline said Ronnie W. Skelton and Dr Kedrick D. Pickering would be able to bring to bear what they did in 1999, which is to bring huge reforms to the government. 

He says for the next elections season, just eight people are needed with the VI's support to chart a course and move the VI forward. 

"Seven to for the government and one to back-up... who the people don't have to second guess," he said. 

He named former Speaker Ingrid Moses and Shaina M. Smith-Archer, along with Dr Pickering and Mr Skelton, as possible At-Large Candidates who can take the seats away from the current legislators.
