F*** You And Your Car! EE Woman Takes Lover's Vehicle, Damages It After Getting Shut Out

F*** You And Your Car! EE Woman Takes Lover's Vehicle, Damages It After Getting Shut Out

An unemployed woman from Major Bay, East End was offered $20,000 bail after she raked up a number of offences when she took her lover’s vehicle without his consent and damaged it in the process.
Ladisha Ells pleaded guilty to all the offences when she appeared before Magistrate Christilyn Benjamin on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the Magistrate’s Court.

She was charged with the criminal offence of taking a conveyance without authority and traffic offences including using a motor vehicle when not covered by third-party insurance, driving an unlicensed vehicle and driving when not accompanied by a licensed driver.

The offences took place on January 30, 2020, when she was 19 years old.

According to Crown Counsel Lyn Daley, on the day in question, Ells who had a causal relationship with the Virtual Complainant (VC), whom she had known for one and a half years, contacted him about coming to his home in Bellevue at about midnight.

He agreed that she could come and she arrived at his residence at about 2 am.

When she arrived, she knocked on his door and called him, but he did not respond.

Sometime later, the VC heard the door of a vehicle slamming followed by the sound of a vehicle starting up and two loud noises.

The court heard that the vehicle – a silver Hyundai Elantra – was usually kept unlocked with the key in the ignition.

The VC then went to investigate and saw the defendant driving his vehicle out of his yard without his consent.

He later texted the defendant that she should return his vehicle, but she replied ‘f*** you and your car.’

He then informed her that he would be reporting the matter to the police, which he did at 5.36 am at the East End Police Station.

The police responded and visited Ells’ residence in Major Bay, East End, where the car was seen on the premises.

The defendant identified the vehicle as his and Ells was informed of the report made against her to which she replied: “He make me come up there. So how I was going to come home?”

Crown Counsel Daley said the car had several damages to its exterior caused by the defendant hitting the back and front bumpers as she tried to maneuver out of the VC’s yard.

She also damaged a headlamp, tail light, and caused it to have scratches.

Ells was later taken into custody and interviewed where she admitted that she did not have a driver’s license, but she had a learner’s permit. The estimate for the damages on the vehicle was not available upon request by the court, and the matter was adjourned to January 18, 2021, for sentencing where the matter of compensation will be addressed for the damages.

She was then offered $20,000 bail with one signed surety. She is to report to the East End Police Station every Saturday between 6 am and 6 pm.
