Fatal Collision in West Wickham Claims Life of Man in His 50s
Police investigate fatal crash as driver is arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving.
A man in his 50s has died following a collision in West Wickham, prompting a police investigation.
Officers were alerted to the incident on High Street at 12:42 a.m. on Thursday, March 13. Initial reports indicated that the man had suffered a cardiac arrest after being struck by a vehicle.
Emergency services arrived shortly after the call and discovered the victim, who had been run over.
Medical personnel attempted to revive him; however, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have contacted the victim's family, who are receiving support from specialist officers during this difficult time.
The driver of the vehicle involved, a man in his 30s, remained at the location and was subsequently arrested.
He is suspected of causing death by dangerous driving, as well as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The suspect is currently in police custody at a south London police station.
